EURISCO National Inventory Focal Points

The National Focal Points (NFPs) are the unique link between the EURISCO and the European National Inventories (NIs) and national documentation systems.

Within their countries, NFPs have the responsibility for the creation, development and national-level coordination of PGR inventories. They ensure the appropriate flow of data between NIs and EURISCO. Their roles are primarely technical, but they are also expected to give clearance for the online publication of country passport data.
The NFP of the NI accepts the following responsibilities regarding the data to be replicated in EURISCO:

  • To acquire and manage the appropriate data of the NI, inter alia for upload onto EURISCO;
  • To define the appropriate data to be incorporated into EURISCO;
  • To obtain any necessary permissions from third parties to allow the data to be made publicly available in EURISCO;
  • To provide the data to Bioversity;
  • To provide only non-confidential data that is not subject to any restrictions to be incorporated into EURISCO;
  • To provide the data in the EURISCO uploading format at least once a year;
  • To resolve any legal actions that may be brought by third parties with respect to such data and indemnify Bioversity against any legal actions that may be brought by third parties with respect to the data provided by the NI to Bioversity for inclusion in EURISCO.

*Effective 1 December 2006, IPGRI and INIBAP operate under the name Bioversity International, Bioversity for short.
**In 2007, ECP/GR changed its name to ECPGR.
