This Seminar - Training had the goals to:
On the 20-22 ctober 2009 there will be a EURISCO Seminar-Training being held in Kharkiv, Ukraine. This Seminar-Training was organized by the NCPGRU and ECPGR/Bioversity International.
The objective of this Seminar-training is to strengthen the sustainability of EURISCO and improve data completeness through the enhancement of the quality and quantity of data flowing into the Catalogue. Hands-on training will be provided to the Ukrainian National Inventory Focal Person (NFP), aiming at bringing all NFPs up to the same level of development and knowledge. The Seminar, involving genebanks’ documentation systems’ managers, representatives from working collections research centers of the Ukrainian Academy of Agrarian Sciences, will provide up-to-date information to the members of the Ukraine network of data providers to the National Inventory and raising awareness of the importance of plant genetic resources information activities. and the goals are to meet the increased demand for technical support to people in charge of managing and sharing biodiversity data at national, regional and global level comes as an opportunity for Bioversity International to strength its leading technical and scientific role in the field of bio-informatics.

This training workshop was an activity of the Documentation & Information Network Coordinating Group (NCG) for its EPGRIS3 self funded project activity 5-01 on “National Inventories on ex situ plant genetic resources”. The participation of in this workshop was of 30 people, from which 8 where financed by the ECPGR D&INCG, another 8 the South East European Development Network on Plant Genetic Resources (SEEDNet) as a collaboration activity on documentation and information and the remaining participants where self funding. The focus of the training was on the EURISCO National Focal Points.
