EURISCO Seminar and Training

Banjaluka, Bosnia and Herzegovina - 30 November - 1 December 2009

The objective of this Seminar & Training was to strengthen the sustainability of EURISCO and improve data completeness through the enhancement of the quality and quantity of data flowing into the Catalogue. The Seminar, involved genebanks, documentation systems, managers, representatives from the working collections of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Serbia, provided up-to-date information to the members of the network of data providers to the National Inventory and raised awareness of the importance of plant genetic resources information activities.

This Seminar - Training had the goals to:

  • Upload and update the NIs
  • Identify and define support needed for the further development of the NI.
  • Discuss and identify ways to increase the availability of NI to EURISCO.
  • Set a work plan for NI update and upload to EURISCO.
  • Identify the type of support needed to carry out data sharing.
  • Discuss and identify ways to establish a collaboration mechanism between collection holders to improve data sharing.

Kharkiv, Ukraine - 20-21 October 2009

On the 20-22 ctober 2009 there will be a EURISCO Seminar-Training being held in Kharkiv, Ukraine. This Seminar-Training was organized by the NCPGRU and ECPGR/Bioversity International.

The objective of this Seminar-training is to strengthen the sustainability of EURISCO and improve data completeness through the enhancement of the quality and quantity of data flowing into the Catalogue. Hands-on training will be provided to the Ukrainian National Inventory Focal Person (NFP), aiming at bringing all NFPs up to the same level of development and knowledge.
The Seminar, involving genebanks, documentation systems, managers, representatives from working collections research centers of the Ukrainian Academy of Agrarian Sciences, will provide up-to-date information to the members of the Ukraine network of data providers to the National Inventory and raising awareness of the importance of plant genetic resources information activities, and the goals are to meet the increased demand for technical support to people in charge of managing and sharing biodiversity data at national, regional and global level comes as an opportunity for Bioversity International to strength its leading technical and scientific role in the field of bio-informatics.

This Seminar - Training will have the goals to:

  • Identify and define support needed for the further development of the NI.
  • Discuss and identify ways to increase the availability of NI to EURISCO.
  • Set a work plan for NI update and upload to EURISCO.
  • Identify the type of support needed to carry out data sharing.
  • Discuss and identify ways to estabelish a collaboration mechanism between collection holders to improve data sharing.

St. Petersburg, Russian Federation - 13-15 May 2009

The Seminar-Training held in St. Petersburg on the 13-15 May 2009 was organized by VIR and EURISCO/ECPGR/Bioversity International.

The objective of this Seminar & Training is to strengthen the sustainability of EURISCO and improve data completeness through the enhancement of the quality and quantity of data flowing into the Catalogue. The Seminar, involving genebanks, documentation systems, managers, representatives from the working collections research centers of the Ministry of Agriculture and National Academy of Sciences, will provide up-to-date information to the members of VIR network of data providers to the National Inventory and raising awareness of the importance of plant genetic resources information activities.
Hands-on training will be provided to the Russian Federation documentation expert and National Inventory Focal Person (NFP), aiming at bringing all NFPs up to the same level of development and knowledge.

This Seminar - Training will have the goals to:

  • Identify and define support needed for the further development of the NI.
  • Discuss and identify ways to increase the availability of NI to EURISCO.
  • Set a work plan for NI update and upload to EURISCO.
  • Discuss and identify ways to estabelish a collaboration mechanism between collection holders to improve data sharing.
  • Discuss nomination of NFP for EURISCO.

Armenia, Yerevan 21-22 April 2009

On the 21-22 April 2009 there will be a EURISCO Seminar-Training being held in Yerevan, Armenia. This Seminar-Training was organized by the Ministry of Agriculture - ECPGR National Coordinator, the Armenian State Agrarian University and ECPGR/Bioversity International.

The objective of this Seminar-training is to strengthen the sustainability of EURISCO and improve data completeness through the enhancement of the quality and quantity of data flowing into the Catalogue.
Hands-on training will be provided to the Armenian National Inventory Focal Person (NFP), aiming at bringing all NFPs up to the same level of development and knowledge.

Spain, Madrid 3-4 November 2008

On the 3-4 November 2008 there will a EURISCO Seminar-Training being held in Madrid, Spain. This Seminar-Training was organized by CRF-Spain and Bioversity.

The objective of this Seminar-training is to strengthen the sustainability of EURISCO and improve data completeness through the enhancement of the quality and quantity of data flowing into the Catalogue.
Hands-on training will be provided to the Spanish National Inventory Focal Person (NFP), aiming at bringing all NFPs up to the same level of development and knowledge.
The Seminar, involving genebanks, documentation systems, managers, will provide up-to-date information to the members of the Spanish network of data providers to the National Inventory and raising awareness of the importance of plant genetic resources information activities and the goals are to meet the increased demand for technical support to people in charge of managing and sharing biodiversity data at national, regional and global level comes as an opportunity for Bioversity International to strength its leading technical and scientific role in the field of bio-informatics.

This seminar- training will have the goals to:

EURISCO training workshop

Prague, Czech Republic 29-30 June 2009

This training workshop was an activity of the Documentation & Information Network Coordinating Group (NCG) for its EPGRIS3 self funded project activity 5-01 on National Inventories on ex situ plant genetic resources?
The participation of in this workshop was of 30 people, from which 8 where financed by the ECPGR D&INCG, another 8 the South East European Development Network on Plant Genetic Resources (SEEDNet) as a collaboration activity on documentation and information and the remaining participants where self funding. The focus of the training was on the EURISCO National Focal Points.

This training workshop following objectives were:

  • To bring NFPs up to date
  • To further improve quality and quantity of data in the NI
  • To facilitate fulfilling the reporting obligations under the MLS of the Treaty
  • To promote/improve frequency of upload to EURISCO
  • To develop and disseminate the NI FAQ-Manual or leaflets
